Tools and templates
These no-cost tools will help you budget, reduce debt and plan your savings:
Net Worth Tool – This tool helps give you a snapshot of your current financial status so you can meet your financial goals. Simply enter your debt (what you owe) and your total assets (what you own) into the tool.
Budget template – This pre-formatted spreadsheet can help track your income and expenses so you can manage your finances more effectively.
NOTE: To access the budget template, you must log in to the KP website.
- PowerPay (Debt Reduction Tool) – Create a custom plan to pay off your debt and save money on interest. Offered by Utah State University Extension.

Reading and Vocabulary Builder for your kids
AmEnglish gives your kids two fun and easy language programs to help them build vocabulary, reading, and understanding skills. They can use them anytime on any device.
Read Aloud eBooks for Grades K-6
- This fun, award-winning program helps your child get better at reading and understanding by using animal poems written in a rhythm like The Cat in the Hat.
- Provides 27 titles covering reading levels from kindergarten to sixth grade.
- Words light up as your child reads aloud to help match sounds with the audio.
- Parent guides available in English and Spanish
Vocabulary Builder for Grades 6 to 8
This program uses poems and real facts to teach science and new words. Great for visual and audio learners.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Reading and Vocabulary program, you must:
- Be a KP Union Alliance or Coalition employee
- Be a BHMT-eligible employee
Requirements
- A reliable computer with an internet connection
- A current web browser like Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge

Register
- Select the Register button
- Go to Student Login and enter your NUID and preferred email. Once you have registered, you will have instant access to the Series content for you and your family.
- After registration, you will only need your email to login.

How much does this program cost?
BHMT will pay for the 1-year online subscription cost.
This is a “self-paced” program. What does that mean?
All AmEnglish Family Resources are available anytime, from any device with internet. Your family can start any of the 27 Read Aloud eBooks or 5 Vocabulary Builder books whenever they want. Each Read Aloud book also has a Parent Guide to help you support your child. Go at your own pace and revisit favorite parts anytime.

Who do I contact if I have a question about this course?
Education made accessible
If someone in your family wants to earn a college degree, certificate, or more college credits, BHMT can help. Family members of BHMT-eligible employees can get lower tuition at Post University and Colorado Technical University (CTU).
Note: This family discount is different from the BHMT Education Trust benefit, which is only for BHMT-eligible Kaiser Permanente employees. For questions about the discount, please contact CTU or Post University.
Post University
- Post University offers 20% tuition reduction on all online credit-earning courses for family members living in the same household with a BHMT-eligible participant.
- Post University’s High School Academy is also a great way for children of BHMT-eligible participants to get a jump start on college. Students with a 3.0 or higher GPA can attend online college classes building credits towards an Associate’s degree, while still in high school at a 90% tuition reduction. Participation requires a recommendation from their school counselor. Download the recommendation form to apply.
Colorado Technical University
- BHMT family members are eligible to pursue any degree (associate, bachelor’s and master’s level) at Colorado Technical University (CTU) using a 15% grant towards their tuition costs. Family members include spouse, domestic/life partner or child of a BHMT-eligible participant.
- Program eligibility is confirmed by signing a one-page attestation form and the grant is applied when choosing the “Standard KP 15% Tuition Grant” on the application.
- Advantages of attending CTU include:
- No application fees or entrance exams
- Mobile-friendly classes are 5 weeks long and 100% online
- Earn a degree faster by passing CTU Fast Track exams
- Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
